Game Recap — Ocean Spartans 11U vs. Shrewsbury Canes
The Ocean Spartans 11U opened the Spring 2026 season against the Shrewsbury Canes in their first game of the year. A little rust showed early, but the Spartans battled until the very end and produced quality at-bats throughout the game.
Despite falling behind by four runs in the fifth inning, the Spartans showed tremendous fight and nearly completed a comeback, ultimately falling 10–9 in a tightly contested matchup.
The Spartans actually out-hit the Canes 7–4, led by Colin M and Kyle K, who each collected two hits. Jeff B got things started early with an RBI single down the right-field line in the first inning to tie the game.
The Spartans took their first lead in the third inning after Colin M delivered a single to center and aggressive baserunning capitalized on a defensive miscue. In the fourth inning, the Spartans continued to battle, tying the game again behind patient at-bats, including contributions from Evan T and Ryland P.
On the mound, Jack B started for the Spartans and struck out five batters over three innings. The Spartans also showed strong effort on the bases, stealing eight bases and turning one double play defensively.
At the plate, the team demonstrated patience and discipline, drawing six walks and consistently putting pressure on the defense. Ryland P led the team with two RBIs, while Danny G showed great plate discipline with three walks. Colin M and Danny G each swiped multiple bases as part of the aggressive baserunning attack.
While the result didn’t go their way, this was a strong first showing for the Ocean Spartans 11U. Early-season rust is expected, but the team’s ability to battle back, produce competitive at-bats, and never quit until the final out set a great tone for the season ahead. 💪⚾
Great effort by the Spartans — plenty to build on as the season gets underway.

Happy Thanksgiving, Ocean Spartans Family! 🦃⚾
Today we’re especially thankful for:
- The kid who hands the first-base coach a full backpack of accessories: double sliding mitts, Pit Vipers on the helmet, elbow guard, arm sleeve, and batting gloves that cost more than the entry fee
- The coach who needs a wheelbarrow to carry one player’s gear back to the dugout
- Those legendary parents who roll up to the double-header with the “hydration station” (aka the Yeti full of margs) because 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. baseball requires adult electrolytes 😂
- Sunflower seeds that are now permanently part of our vehicles’ DNA
- And every head-first slide that ages us 10 years but makes us cheer like lunatics
Y’all are the real MVPs. Go eat too much, sneak an extra marg (we won’t tell), and hug the people who make these marathon weekends worth it.
Happy Thanksgiving, Spartan fam — we love every single one of you weirdos. 💙❤️

Spartans 11U & 9U — Season Wrap-Up
What a ride.
Both our 11U and 9U Spartans squads had awesome seasons — big wins, tough losses, walk-offs, breakthroughs, and a whole lot of laughs in between. These kids showed up, worked hard, and got noticeably better. That’s the win.
Now it’s time to breathe a little.
Enjoy the winter.
Play another sport.
Build a snowman.
Cheer for the Devils.
Eat way too many Christmas cookies.
Go sledding.
Play Fortnite until your thumbs hurt (okay maybe not that last one).
We’ll pick things back up in January with winter workouts — getting stronger, faster, and sharpening the fundamentals — so we can come back in the spring ready to make another run.
We’re proud of this group and the families behind them.
The culture is real. The fun is real. The growth is real.
Enjoy the off-season — we’ll be back in 6–7 weeks.
Spartans on 3. ⚔️

Spartans 9U Fall After Strong Showing By Howell Hurricanes 9U
The Spartans 9U fell 13-2 to the Howell Hurricanes 9U on Sunday — a tough way to close things out, but an important step in the journey. It was a dose of humble pie for a team that’s made incredible strides this season, and a reminder that sometimes you learn more from a loss than you do from a win.
The boys came in expecting to win, but effort and focus didn’t match the moment. Baseball has a way of teaching lessons — and this one was about accountability, preparation, and resilience.
Still, there’s no denying how far this group has come. Over the course of the season, these Spartans grew stronger, more disciplined, and more connected as a team. They battled through adversity, learned to handle pressure, and earned every bit of respect that comes with wearing the Spartan name.
The setback is part of the Spartans’ mission: learn, grow, and come back stronger. This loss doesn’t define them — it sharpens them. The journey continues, and this team’s best baseball is still ahead. 💪⚾️

Congratulations to the 9U Spartans on an incredible fall season. Being part of the Spartan community has always meant something special, and it’s great to see that pride and tradition being passed down to the next group of players. The legacy continues to grow, and so does the heart of this program. ⚾
Bummer. Great season for these boys at the highest level. Spring can come soon enough!
