🏆 OCEAN SPARTANS 11U ADVANCE TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME! 🏆
The Ocean Spartans 11U showed their depth, resilience, and team-first mentality this weekend as they won two playoff games to earn a spot in next Sunday’s Championship Game at OTLL.
In Saturday’s opening-round victory, Johnny W, Evan Truax, and Danny Garrett were electric on the mound and helped lead the Spartans to a dominant mercy-rule win.
On Sunday, the Spartans defeated Ocean Surge 11U by a score of 7-4 in the semifinals. Jack Berenato turned in a tremendous effort on the mound, working six strong innings to keep the Spartans in control throughout the game.
Offensively, Kyle Kelly and Jack Boker delivered some of the biggest hits of the day, while David Deutsch, Jeff Baldassare, and Kyle Kelly each collected multiple hits. The Spartans stayed aggressive from start to finish, swiping 10 bases and constantly putting pressure on the defense.
What stood out most all weekend was the complete team effort. Every player contributed in some way, whether it was on the mound, at the plate, in the field, or on the bases. Captains David and Kyle once again led by example, setting the tone with their energy, leadership, and determination.
This team has continued to improve all season, and their depth has become one of their greatest strengths. From top to bottom, the Spartans continue to find ways to win as a team.

Great Job! Fun to watch them today!

“Adversity introduces a player to himself.”
The Ocean Spartans 9U saw their playoff run come to an end Sunday in a heartbreaking 4-3 extra-inning loss to South Wall Storm. In a game that could have gone either way, two talented teams battled through seven innings before the deciding run crossed the plate on the final play of the game.
The Spartans struck first in the opening inning when Trevor B delivered an RBI single, and they added another run in the second to build an early lead. South Wall battled back, but the Spartans continued to answer, forcing the game into extra innings in one of the most competitive and well-played 9U games you’ll see all season.
The story of the day was the pitching. Donovan B was outstanding, allowing just one run over four innings while striking out five. Rhys L battled in relief, striking out four and keeping the Spartans in position to win. Both teams received tremendous performances on the mound, and every pitch felt important as the game unfolded.
At the plate, Jack C led the Spartans with two hits, while Trevor B and Donovan B each drove in a run. Defensively, the Spartans were flawless, committing zero errors in a pressure-packed playoff environment.
While the final result wasn’t what we wanted, this game showed exactly what this team is capable of. The pitching was exceptional. The defense was outstanding. The effort and energy may have wavered at times, but the boys learned a valuable lesson.
The next step for this group isn’t physical—it’s mental. Learning to embrace the biggest moments, trust their preparation, and maintain confidence regardless of the situation. That’s the final piece of the puzzle as these young athletes continue to grow.
Baseball is a game of inches. Play this game ten times, and you might get ten different results. Today simply wasn’t our day.
We’re proud of how these boys competed, how they carried themselves, and how much they improved throughout the season. The future remains incredibly bright for this group.
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
Keep your heads high, Spartans. The best is yet to come.
#GoSpartans We’ll be back in the fall to give it another run.
